Now that it is fireplace weather I thought it would be a great idea to give you a few fireplace and furnace safety tips.

For a wood burning fireplace:
-Think about what you burn. Aged, dry hardwood is the best thing to burn. Make sure you don’t burn any wood that make have any chemicals on it. You don’t want those entering your living space!
-Close the damper when the fireplace isn’t in use

For fireplaces with gas starters:
-If you notice that your fireplace has a different smell or color it could be a sign that your fireplace is not operating properly. Submit a maintenance request. (www.allegropropertymanagement.com/maintenance-request)

For a gas furnace:
-Make sure that there is nothing around the furnace, vents, space heaters, and baseboards that would block airflow.
-Make sure all combustible materials are not stored near the furnace.

Are you ready for a pet?

Hey Everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving weekend. Today I am going to write about pets! Since I am in the beginning phase of deciding whether or not a pet would be the right choice for my household, there is no better time to share a few things to think about before you bring your pet home.

Does your landlord allow pets?

- This question should be the first thing you consider. If the answer is no then shouldn’t even bother thinking through all of the other questions. However if the answer is yes, then you need to find out a few more things.

What rules are there regarding what type of pet is allowed on the property?

- Many properties have weight limits for animals and/or limits on what breeds are allowed. This is very important to find out. You don’t want to fall in love with a 130 lb Great Dane only to find out that you can’t bring him home.

Is there a pet deposit?

- Most places have pet deposits that are required if you decide to bring a pet into your home. Sometimes they are refundable, and sometimes they are not. It is always important to check. (Allegro’s typical pet deposit is $350 per pet.)

Are you willing to take responsibility for any damage your pet might do?

- In the unfortunate event that you come home to find that your pet has caused some damage to the property you need to take responsibility for the damage. Make sure that this is something that you will be able to handle financially because depending on the type of damage it could be costly.

Now that you have found out whether or not your pet is allowed in your home make sure that you are able to provide a healthy, safe, and loving home for your pet. Bringing a pet into your home is a big responsibility, but it can add so much joy to your household! If you end up deciding to get a pet I hope you consider getting a fish!

Hey Everyone! Hope you all had a great Halloween. I am still recovering from all the candy that I have eaten in the last few days. Check out my Halloween costume, it took me hours to put it together.

All moved in!

Well, I am all moved in. It was quite a splash! Allegro was so great to work with. Since this is my first time renting they walked me through all of the move-in steps. I am thinking about getting a pet in the future, so they told me all about pet deposits, and what I will need to do before I bring my pet home. What kind of pet do you think I should get?

After exploring and bumping into walls over and over again for two hours, I am still getting used to my new home (and this massive headache). I am now ready for visitors. So stop on by and visit me! I am already practicing for a fun game of hide-and-seek. Not going to lie, I am pretty good at it! Can you find me?

Hey Everyone! My name is Al, and after searching for a nice new home for months I have found the perfect place. I found it through a company called “Allegro Property Management.” I couldn’t be more thrilled. My new place is in West Seattle, and I am already planning on how to furnish it. Tomorrow I get to sign the lease and move in!

Since I am starting this whole new adventure in my life, I decided it would be fun to blog about it! I will be blogging on the things that go on around my new home, and of course I will be blogging about myself (most likely I will include a lot of glamour shots)!

Well, this is all for now. I can’t wait to update you about my big move tomorrow.
